Violinist Žiga Brank and cellist Milan Hudnik have been collaborating for several years in different chamber music projects at the Conservatory of Music in Ljubljana. 2017 marked the 135th anniversary of the birth and the 50th anniversary of the death of Zoltán Kodály. For this occasion, they prepared a recording of several important concerts by this author, published under the RTV Slovenia label, with support by the Hungarian Cultural Centre.


Žiga Brank, violin

Žiga Brank is a professor of violin at the Music and Ballet Conservatory in Ljubljana and has also taught at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana since 2015. He has served in the role of first violin for the Slovenian National Theatre Opera and the Maribor ballet orchestras, and on occasion for the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra and Zagreb soloists. He has a rich history of recordings housed in the RTV Slovenia archive. Among them a rarely performed violin concert by F. Busoni and a complete collection of sonatas for solo violin by E. Ysaÿe and 24 Caprices op. 1 by Paganini (2016).


Milan Hudnik, cello

Milan Hudnik

Milan Hudnik graduated and finished his postgraduate course in cello at the Ljubljana Academy of Music under professor Ciril Škerjanec’s guidance. He perfected his skills with professor Mario Brunello and in classes with Igor Gavriš, Eleonore Schoenfeld and Onczaj Csabo. He has performed as a soloist with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra and the orchestras of the Slovenian Philharmonic, Academy of Music, Rotaract and Festival Bled. He has won prizes at young musicians’ contests – at the Antonio Janigro international competition in Zagreb in 1996 and received a special award by the Romano Romanini Fund. He is the backup solo cellist for the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra and a founding member of the orchestra of the Society of Slovenian Composers, member of the band, Neofonija and professor at the Conservatory for Music and Ballet in Ljubljana.
