22nd Tartini Festival

The Tartini Festival is an international summer chamber music festival dedicated to Piran-born composer Giuseppe Tartini. In addition to Tartini's works, the festival also presents works by other worldwide and Slovenian composers and works by contemporary artists inspired by Tartini's art. At the festival, you will have the opportunity to see and hear the famous Tartini violin, which, when played by the fingers of world-class musicians, never ceases to inspire.

For this purpose, we have prepared a special program and invited exceptional European violinists to perform in various ensembles. It will be especially ceremonial because the original Tartini violin, kept by the Maritime Museum in Piran, will also be performed on at the festival. The Tartini Festival concerts will once again take place in the historical ambience of Piran and Koper, thus also enabling visitors to experience our rich architectural heritage.

Since 2005 Tartini Festival’s unique ensemble Il Terzo Suono has performed its repertoire of Tartini, Vivaldi, Telemann and more on baroque, period instruments to ensure historically correct interpretations. As well as performing each year at Tartini festival the ensemble accompanies famous soloists at festivals around Europe and is formed of members of various international orchestras such as the Venice Baroque Orchestra.

Tartini festival also ensures it supports the next generation of performers by providing the platform for young musicians to perform within the festival programme. This education work is of particular importance to the two festival founders Jasna Nadles and Milan Vrsakoj. The Tartini Junior programme presented with the support of the Municipality of Koper is where excellent young musicians from all over Slovenia are able to perform and gain invaluable experience. The education strand of the festival programme is further supported by both workshops and masterclasses involving the distinguished musicians that perform each year.

Several of the Tartini festival concerts are recorded by Radio Television of Slovenia for broadcast on television and radio. This allows the reach of the festival to be extended well beyond Piran across the whole of Slovenia.

Tartini festival every year brings superb concerts to the Slovenian coast. Beautiful music and gorgeous surroundings including the Venetian architectural gem, Piran will ensure another memorable festival. We invite you to look through the programme and look forward to welcoming you to the festival.
